How It Works

RF Microneedling

As a treatment for medical skin conditions and damage Sylfirm X reacts to ONLY abnormal blood vessels and tissue to selectively treat various skin complaints like rosacea, melasma or scarring without harming the surrounding healthy skin. It is also an effective hair regrowth treatment.
It is also fantastic as an anti-aging therapy. Sylfirm X delivers RF energy beneath the superficial layer of skin through specialized microneedles. The body responds to this by stimulating the production of collagen — the skin’s main structural protein — to repair, smooth and tighten the skin. It creates an environment of optimized dermal health and restores the essential components of younger looking skin.

FAQs

Is RF Microneedling right for me?

Sylfirm X works on all skin types as the patented technology is based on radio waves, which is not affected by skin color. Scarlet should not be considered if you are pregnant or lactating, have a defibrillator, metal implants, pacemaker, auto-immune disease, cancer, or skin disease, or if you are a Roaccutaine user. Why should I choose RF Microneedling over Laser?

Not everyone is a great candidate for laser and both technologies do not work in the same way. Laser treatments only address the superficial layers of the skin without reaching the basement layers where pigmentation problems reside. Therefore in many situations, laser is only a temporary solution. Sylfirm selectively targets areas of the skin that lasers cannot reach.

Will it hurt?

There is minimal discomfort with the Sylfirm X compared to other devices. We use an numbing cream before treatment to keep our patients as comfortable as possible during treatment.

Melasma is notoriously difficult to treat, why is Sylfirm different?

Melasma pigments are notoriously difficult to treat because they form in multiple layers of the skin. We now also know that melasma is more than just a pigmentary condition. It is also caused by other problems in the skin, such as inflammation, abnormal blood vessels, and a weakened base layer of the epidermis, also known as the basement membrane.

Sylfirm works on several layers of the skin – from the deepest to the most superficial, and targets not only the melanin pigment deposits, but also the abnormal blood vessels and basement membrane which aggravate the melasma.

By targeting the root causes of melasma, Sylfirm offers an effective, convenient way to treat and prevent this stubborn condition and with minimal downtime!

What can I expect during treatment?

Prior to the treatment, our therapist will take photos and apply a layer of numbing cream to your skin. After waiting for the cream to take affect, the micro-needles are then gently introduced into the treatment area(s). You will feel some mild discomfort during treatment, but this is very tolerable compared to other micro-needling treatments as Sylfirm introduces the needles very gently into the skin.

After the procedure a mask (face only) or gel will be applied and allowed to sit for a few minutes in order to aid in cooling and regeneration of the skin.

What results can I expect after the treatment?

Stubborn pigments such as age spots and melasma will be visibly reduced. However, it is best to pair a good skin routine with treatments to maximize results.

You can also expect to see less wrinkles and fine lines on the skin because of the straightening of the deep layers of the skin. You can also expect the skin to brighten and tighten after a series of treatments.

Sylfirm also improves skin redness and broken capillaries. If you suffer from rosacea, you will find your skin less reactive, with less facial flushing and acne outbreaks.

What are some side effects of the treatment?

You can expect your skin to remain slightly red and inflamed but these side effects should be resolved in 2-3 days. Most people are able to go about their usual daily activities after the treatment.

How many sessions are required?

It depends on the severity of your skin condition. In many cases, the doctor may advise you to repeat this treatment 2-6 more times. Collagen and elastin take time to generate so your results will continue to develop 6-8 weeks after your last treatment.

Can it be combined with injectables?

Sylfirm treatments are generally safe to do 2 weeks after neuromodulators or fillers. Dr Sithembu will help you to determine the best way to combine treatments.

How much do the treatments cost?

Treatment prices start at $350. We suggest purchasing packages to take advantage of the savings as most people require more than one treatment to reach their desired results.
