How It Works
Sculptra Dermal Fillers
Sculptra falls under the category of dermal fillers. There are several FDA-approved dermal fillers available, but unlike other fillers that push up the space just below wrinkles and folds for immediate results, Sculptra stimulates collagen production.
Sculptra is injected into the skin. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which acts as a collagen stimulator, helping to gradually restore fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. This results in a softer and more youthful appearance.
An Important note about Sculptra Appointments
Sculptra is a very unique treatment! With each appointment the treatment solution is specially made in an individual batch just for you. The process takes our clinic a number of days to complete. Appointments are only made in person and pre-paid at least 1 week in advance. If you are unable to make the appointment for any reason, the cost of the treatment is non-refundable.
Is a treatment painful?
There can be some discomfort associated with receiving injections. We use a local anesthetic to ease discomfort during treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Dr Sithembu will work with you to determine the number of treatment sessions needed to achieve the best result. The average regimen consists of three injections spread out over three or four months.
When will I see results from my treatment?
You may notice immediate results, but it can take a few months to see the full results of your treatment.
Is this treatment right for me?
Sculptra shouldn’t be used by people with a history of irregular scarring or anyone allergic to of Sculptra. It shouldn’t be used at the site of skin sores, acne, cysts, rashes, or other skin inflammation. We suggest talking to your pharmacist before receiving treatment to confirm that you do not have any sensitivities or medication conflicts to the following ingredients: Poly-L-lactic acid, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, or non-pyrogenic mannitol. Pregnant or lactating women can not receive Sculptra treatments.
What should I expect during treatments?
Before your visit with Dr Sithembu, you’ll be asked to provide your complete medical history, including any medical conditions and allergies. Please be sure to complete any intake forms sent to you as soon as you receive them.
On the day of your first Sculptra treatment, your doctor will map the injection sites on your skin and cleanse the area. A local anesthetic will be injected to help with any discomfort. Your doctor will then inject your skin using multiple small injections.
You should be able to return to most of your normal activities immediately after treatment. Dr Sithembu will advise you of any special instructions.
What should I expect post treatment?
Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after Sculptra injections. Swelling, bruising, and other side effects are usually mild and subside within a few days.
How much do the treatments cost?
The cost of Sculptra depends on several factors, including:
- amount of enhancing or correction necessary to achieve the desired result
- number of treatment visits required
- geographic location
- number of vials of Sculptra used
- discounts or special offers
The general cost per vial is $815 but we offer a 20% discount on packages. You can book an appointment for a consultation by going to our booking site https://fountainhealthandwellness.janeapp.com/ or by calling 778-438-2652.
